Hi, I'm a newbie to side chain compression
I have a dbx 266xl in my bass gear rack and i'm running my bass signal through it. I plugged an alesis drum pad into the side chain insert of the dbx(Alesis mono output ---mono jack cable---> side chain insert). I did this for the simple "ducking" effetc (techno pump) as i did it before with software compressor and it worked perfectly fine. The problem with this set up is that whenever the drum pad is being triggered the bass line channel level seems to increase instead of ducking or decreasing and that is what i wanted in the first place so i'm getting the exact opposite effect. No matter how i set the knobs the effect stays the same. I know some people used dbx compressors for the "ducking" effect, so anybody know what seems to be the problem?
