Female BJJ Champions respond to Ronda Rousey: 'Talk is cheap when you never show up'
UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey made headlines this past week when she made a bold claim about female jiujitsu competitors. While talking about how she feels Judo-based fighters don't get enough respect, Rousey also made the following claim, "I still think that I can beat any BJJ girl in the world, any weight division, gi or no gi, black belt all the way, in any rule set that they want."
These statements have sparked up a lot of discussion, and several female BJJ competitors want to take her up on her claims. Nine jiujitsu champs spoke to Gracie Mag about Rousey's statements, and here are a select few:
Michelle Nicolini, Seven-time world champion: "She was quite disrespectful. Not even the best Jiu-Jitsu competitors would say something like that. No one is unbeatable. I would fight her and would do my best to represent all women in Jiu-Jitsu that felt bothered with her comment. If she is that good, she should register for the Worlds. Talk is cheap when you never show up."
Beatriz Mesquita, 2014 lightweight and Absolute world champion: "First of all she is dead wrong. I don’t think she can beat any of the current black belt world champions. The skill level is so high and all she knows is that armlock. She is a great judo fighter, but in a Jiu-Jitsu match all you have to do is pull guard and her judo is done. I’d love to be in a fight with her. Maybe the people at Metamoris would like to promote a match like that. Jiu-Jitsu is much more than an armlock. It’s a lifestyle."
Gabi Garcia, Eight-time world champion: "I rather believe she didn’t know what she was saying. It’s not possible for someone to display such a lack of humbleness. She disrespected Jiu-Jitsu as a whole. The first quality of a champion is to be humble and to respect others. As my Professior Fabio Gurgel said, I’m ready and at her disposal to fight her under any rules, with or without gi."
Hannette Staack, Seven-time world champion: "Personally, I think Ronda has no idea of what she is talking about. I’m sure she would think twice before accepting any challenge from a BJJ champion. I would love to have the chance to change the way she thinks about us. I’m sure she says that to get people’s attention, once not even the fight against Cris Cyborg she agreed to. I would fight her under Jiu-Jitsu rules or even Metamoris rules. Judo is a wonderful sport that has all my respect, but when you are a specialist in something, like we are in Jiu-Jitsu, things get a lot more complicated. I don’t doubt she would be a very tough opponent, but that’s our field and we demand respect."
Janni Larsson, 2014 heavyweight world champion: "I am sure that Rousey can beat a lot of good Jiu-Jitsu players. I am not sure if she can beat the women in the bigger weight classes in IBJJF. I have a hard time believing that a girl at 60-70 kg can armbar Gabi Garcia, but I am not saying that it is impossible. I do believe that Rousey would do well in IBJJF if she knows/learns the IBJJF rules. If she feels that she needs to prove herself to the world she can start attending IBJJF competitions. I don’t really see the point in doing this though, she is currently the best in her weight class in MMA and she doesn’t have anything to prove. I am not sure how a BJJ-match between her and me would go. I am however confident that she would kick my ass if we met in a MMA fight."

Why is it mostly WW and LHW who are using PEDs?
I wonder why it seems to be mostly welterweights and light heavyweights who get popped for PEDs.
Please don't spare me all the examples proving me wrong - all though I'm only stating an indication..

UFC 175: Vitor Belfort tells Chris Weidman to 'train more,' then challenges him to a fight in Brazil
UFC 175: Vitor Belfort tells Chris Weidman to 'train more,' then challenges him to a fight in Brazil

Because Brazil is the one place Belfort can still get licensed lickety-split.
Lyoto Machida has a chance to capture the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title this Saturday night (July 5, 2014) when he fights Chris Weidman in the UFC 175 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, which goes down inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But Vitor Belfort can only see the "All American."
That means "The Phenom" will be waiting for Weidman at the conclusion of this weekend's mixed martial arts (MMA) event in "Sin City," and advises him to "train more," before putting his title up for grabs later this year in -- you guessed it -- Brazil.
From his conversation with Tatame (via MMA Fighting):
1-800-GO-TO-MARS.
Belfort, of course, is one of three amigos still recovering from the UFC 175 drug testing crackdown, one that pinched not only himself, but fellow middle/light heavyweight veterans Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva. "The American Gangster" was running his own personal pharmacy while "The Axe Murderer" was just plain running.
No matter.
"The Phenom" insists he's clean as a whistle (proof!) and wants to get back in action later this year on his native soil. But will it be against Weidman, or Machida? And more importantly, will they accept the challenge outside the prying eyes of a stateside athletic commission?
Decisions, decisions.

"Bring Weidman. Tell him to train more. Weidman and Vitor. It's a fight for Maracana. I can only see Weidman vs. Belfort. I can only see this. I can't talk about anything else, only about my belt. It won't get in my head. Of course that I will watch the (Weidman vs. Machida) fight, but I only wait for a winner to fight me. I have no preference. I'm going after the title. I conquered this, that's what I deserve. They won't have excuses now. It's good. When I beat them, what are they going to talk about? Will they say I'm taking something from Mars?"

Humongous female grappling champ with freakish biceps calls out Ronda Rousey following 'Rowdy's' jiu-jitsu snub
Humongous female grappling champ with freakish biceps calls out Ronda Rousey following 'Rowdy's' jiu-jitsu snub
By Jesse Holland on Jun 30 2014, 9:49a

I'd like you to meet two-time open class world champion Gabi Garcia ... who has a bone to pick with a certain UFC titleholder.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is confident she can beat any female in the world in a straight-up jiu-jitsu match, according to comments she made last week (read 'em) in advance of her upcoming title fight.
That didn't sit too well with Gabi Garcia.
The hulking behemoth, winner of eight world Brazilian jiu-jitsu championships and best known as Wanderlei Silva's sidekick on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil," told Gracie Mag that Rousey must have been confused, because there is no way a champion would be brazen enough to make that sort of claim.
Where you at, Metamoris?
Rousey will have a chance to put her money where her mouth is this Saturday night (July 5, 2014) in the co-main event of UFC 175 in Las Vegas, Nevada (preview) against jiu-jitsu black belt Alexis Davis, who will "definitely" stop the champion's armbar.
If she can't?
Then it's on to bigger and better things. And if Garcia gets her wish, much bigger.
