2 inputs into 1 pair of monitors

Hey, searched around for this one but wasn't able to find anything specifically on this type of rather unconventional setup I'd like to get going.

I've got 2 sets of monitors for mixing right now: NS10s and Event TR8s. What I'd like to be able to do is have 3 possible combinations available using the Coleman LS3 Switcher and a crossover. Option 1 is straight to the NS10s, 2: Straight to the TR8s, option 3 is into a crossover set to the frequency where the NS10s roll off and into another input on the TR8s to effectively use them as a Subwoofer.

This would give me a lot of flexibility not only for mixing but also for listening as I enjoy the overall sound of the NS10s a lot more, but they're missing the bottom end of the TR8s.

The TR8s have 3 inputs: 1 bal. XLR, 1 bal. TRS and an unbalanced RCA. Looking at the manual it looks like the XLR and TRS are wired as a pass-thru, so they can't be used in tandem as one or the other would always be passing the signal back to the LS3, but the RCA input isn't. The manual does however state that "we do not recommended using it in combination with either of the balanced inputs, as this will unbalance those inputs, possibly causing degradation of the audio signal."

Any thoughts on this? Does this mean simply having the RCAs hooked up will unbalance the other inputs or would that only happen if both inputs were getting a signal simultaneously? Is it even a big deal to unbalance the TR8s when they're only being fed by a 5 ft cable anyway? bumpkin
