Is it better recording an acoustic as dry as possible if you are adding reverb?

If you have a medium sized room and you position the player and mic in the middle, there will be some room sound in the take. Obviously if the room has absorption and a cardiod mic is being used, there will be less room sound but there will be "some" round sound. Is it not better to try get the take as dry as possible if you are going to be adding reverb else you will have natural room sound and added reverb digitally. Isn't that "unatural"?
