Hey everyone, I'm sorry to start yet another "what microphone should I buy" thread, but I figured that when I make this post, I'd tailor it to MY personal needs.
I've been a metal vocalist for about 8 years now, and have only just started researching how to record my own vocals(I've been recording in studios and such), and need to know what the best brand and type of microphone to get within my price range.
For those familiar with the different sub-genres of metal and the bands, my vocals are comparable to Sirens and Sailors, Parkway Drive, Suicide Silence, to more "softer" bands such as A Day To Remember, A Skylit Drive, Bless the Fall, Escape the Fate, and The Amity Affliction(sorry for the long list. Wanted to make sure I listed someone decently known.) The mic also has to be able to clearly record metal vocals, as well as clean vocals.
Now, down to the gritty. My price range is not very high, and there's no hope of me saving my pennies. Come the 1st of May, I'll be getting a small chunk of change(Somewhere around a grand), and will only be able to toss out no more than $150 on a mic. I'd need something that's USB or an XLR/1/4" interface and microphone that is still within my price range.
Used would be better, but new would be okay. Any ideas are welcome.
Thanks in advance!
