Hi!
Maybe this question gets asked (and answered) alot around here, but I have had along absence from GS so here goes:
I am currently using an external preamp (Warm Audio WA12) going into my RME Babyface. As I understand it, the preamp inputs on theBabyface can act as line inputs once you set the input gain at zero. What I've had a hard time finding out is if this setup in any way degrades the signal. From what I've read I understand that the preamps are not entirely bypassed.
As there are line inputs on the Octopre (which I connect by ADAT to the Babyface) I am wondering if the signal would be better of going through the Octopre instead? I am suspecting that the converters in the Octopre might not be as good as in the Babyface, but the Octopre has the advantage of having "real" line inputs.
In short, which one should I plug my preamp into?
Thanks!

External preamp - should I plug it into Babyface or Octopre?
