Hi, I Have just joined so I am not too sure if I am posting this in the right place … Sorry if I am in advance.. I am in the middle of building my studio. I will leave all internal wall layouts and acoustics to a professional but I would like to insulate and isolate the place myself. I have the luxury of not being that close to other buildings so I am wondering is it necessary for me to build a "room within a room" for the whole building? I will separate the control room from the live room by a separate concrete floor and build new walls and ceiling onto. The outer walls are two 4 inch block with a 6 inch cavity that will be pumped full of insulation. I then have 10 inches of roof truss that i can fill with insulation but leaving an air gap.. The roof truss only sit on the inner block and both blocks don't connect together. So is that essentially an a "room within a room" apart from the roof touching of course.?? I know in Rods book in Figure 10.23 deals somewhat with the roof issue but i would like to keep the existing roof as it is 12 foot as it stands.
Do I need a "room within a room" ?
