Faulty JBL305 ?

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I bought a pair of JBL305 and audiophonics stands, and I think I have faulty monitors.

I tried to plug them direct to the soundcard of the PC, to a DAC (Fiio E17 + L7 dock) and to a smartphone, and there is always the same problem : Horrible sound and horrible vocals. When I say horrible, I mean that the vocals are barely audible, as if everything was "instrumental only".

Compared to ANY of my headphones, the sound of any music w/o vocals is just muddy. I am almost sure I have better sound with a pair of 25 dollars computer speakers.

The rear setting of my JBL are the followings :

-10dbV

LF TRIM 0

HF TRIM 0

Volume 5

That's the setup :

JBL305s -> Adam Hall XLRs to mini jack -> 2 Mini jack to stereo mini jack cable -> E15 (on L7 Line out) -> USB -> PC

Like I said, I tried directly to a smartphone with one speaker, same problem. Let's hope my rear settings are the culprit...

Seeing the good reviews of this monitors on Internet, IF there isn't any problems with my settings, I must have faulty monitors.

Do you have any idea before I throw them out of the windows ?

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen ;)

Regards.
