I have barely used stereo spread in my mixes (though I've been using Logic for 10-15 years). But the other day for some reason I slapped it on almost every track in Logic X, and was astounded by how much it cleaned up everything and tightened up the low end.
I guess I always looked at it as a way to widen the stereo field (which I haven't felt any need to do) as apposed to narrowing the bottom end and placing things neatly within the stereo field.
It felt like finding the magic button. Anyone else do this, and is there any reason not to just put it on everything? Does it color the sound in a negative way or create artifacts (I can't notice anything, but I don't always trust my ears during the manic phase of mix-tweaking).
Cheers!
