Bantamweight contenders T.J. Dillashaw and Takeya Mizugaki will collide at UFC 173.
UFC officials Wednesday announced the May 24 booking, which takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and precedes a middleweight title confrontation pitting reigning champion Chris Weidman against top contender Vitor Belfort.
Dillashaw, 28, has won five of his last six fights, with his only loss in that stretch coming in a contentious split decision defeat to Rafael Assuncao this past October. The Team Alpha Male product rebounded from the setback in his last outing, however, scoring a unanimous decision win over Mike Easton last month at UFC Fight Night 35.
Like his opponent, Mizugaki has won five of his last six bouts. The onetime WEC title contender will ride a four-fight winning streak into his clash with Dillashaw, most recently outpointing fellow veteran Nam Phan this past December at UFC Fight Night 33.
