Can TJ Dillashaw hold onto his belt?

Obviously by now we have all seen the match between Barao and Dillashaw and I think I can say we have all been stunned by the developments Dillashaw has made in his game. Leaps and strides!

I've always been a fan of the lower weight divisions, I would call my self an equal fan of all divisions to be honest - they all have their unique fighters and have the potential to produce magnificent bouts destined for the pages of this fine sport's history. I'm rather happy with the aftermath of this bout for this reason. People are now talking about the lower divisions with excitement and I notice less and less punters saying that they can't find interest below lightweight. This bout seems to have snatched respect from those who previously wrote off lighter fights.

And so... let's talk about it some more  .

I want to know what you guys think about TJ Dillashaw's chances of holding the belt and what factors will play into the longevity of his reign and success within the division.

Personally I think that Dillashaw will be able to make several title defences. The first defence I predict will most likely be against his second and most recent loss - Rafael Assuncao - a match I think he will win this time around with certainty. Even if Dillashaw does not improve further, he is still a monster as it stands now. It is highly unlikely that he will stop improving, though, and with the insurance that Dillashaw and Ludwig will be working together in the future it looks as though he will continue to add strengths to his game as well as valuable experience in time. He isn't even in his prime yet!

Aside from Assuncao - we have Barao - who will most definitely need to prove that he deserves a rematch by mingling with the top ten a couple of times.

Faber - I would love to see this fight and it would be extremely easy to hype. A real money maker I think. Beneath all the superficial business matters though I am genuinely intrigued to see how it would play out. Ludwig obviously knows Faber's game well and I think Dillasaw would beat his 'big brother'.

Cruz - I know he hasn't fought in 3 years but with a couple of fights on return we could see Cruz getting a shot at his belt again. Time will tell, we really can't hold our breath on that one.

In the future we could see more prospects rise as Dillashaw did but for the time being I see him being able to fend of the top dogs chasing his gold. The most interesting thing for me will be to see how Barao responds to this loss - there are some really interesting match-ups for him outside of championship bouts that could be very fun to watch.

Anyway - this is the first new topic I've started in a long time - getting a bit fed up of MMACanada posting articles then buggering off without leaving a hint of an opinion and asking for ours. I very much enjoy the discussion on this forum and so I would like to honor that by sparking some myself! Apologies if the thread is poorly thrown together but I think we can get some good talk out of it! Let's hear what you think :).
