So, Brendan Schaub, about that grapefruit-sized swelling in your mouth...

Saturday’s UFC 174 event left Brendan Schaub with two unfortunate parting gifts: a controversial split-decision loss, and a weird grapefruit-sized swelling on his right cheek.

Apparently, though, Schaub can put away any concerns about a possible facial injury. (That decision loss to fellow heavyweight Andrei Arlovski, on the other hand…):

Schaub (10-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) and Arlovski (22-10 MMA, 11-4 UFC) met on UFC 174′s pay-per-view main card, which took place at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. While the three-rounder is unlikely to make this year’s “UFC: Best of 2014″ DVD release, Schaub did appear to do enough to get the victory. According to MMADecisions.com, 13 media outlets scored the fight for “The Ultimate Fighter 10″ runner-up, one had it a draw, and one other scored it for Arlovski.

However, the judges ultimately scored it 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28 for Arlovski, a former heavyweight champion who returned to the organization for the first time since 2008.

In addition to the Arlovski vs. Schaub video highlights, you can check out a photo gallery of the fight, in which Schaub’s cheek began to balloon up as the final round came to a close:

Schaub, who’s an honorable mention in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA heavyweight rankings, likely would have entered the top 15 after claiming his third straight win. Instead, the 31-year-old is now stuck in a 2-3 skid following MMA’s latest baffling decision.

It seems it isn't bad. Sure looked like he'll need some serious assistance after his fight with Arlovski...

Who do you think won? I think he won easy. Arlovski was too inactive to get the W.
