I'm looking for some nice "mojo" EQ's to strap on my console's 2 buss - idea would be to mix "into" these (just like my buss comp) and I'm looking for something with transformers and perhaps tubes that would add a touch of saturation and warmth.
Some contenders:
1. Warm Audio EQP-WA "Pultec" type EQ's. Obviously these take the cake for price/performance, but eat up 4 rack spaces and not many people have heard them yet (thought I'm sure they will be great)
2. A Designs Hammer - more expensive than the WA Pultecs, but a proven solution.
3. A Designs EM-EQ2 - this is their "Pultec" unit and has transformers, but no tubes.
4. Retro 2A3 - I'd love this one, but having a hard time convincing myself it is worth it (vs buying the WA units and using the extra cash to get more gear).
What else should I be looking at? Any thoughts on why (other than $$$) one should chose one of the above vs the other?
Thanks!
