Hello, this is my first post on gearslutz and it is regarding to acoustic treatment. I recently bought a microphone (Apex 540) along with pro tools and an Mbox. I am interested in recording my music which is generally acoustic guitar and through an amp. I am truly an amateur when it comes to this stuff. I listened to some demos of other people with the microphone and it sounds great. So iv tried recording in multiple spaces in multiple positions. But everything I produce sounds like I recorded with my phone or a really low quality mic. When I go to mix it there is only so much iv been able to do to make it sound remotely like I recorded it with a decent mic. Its not only the echo and the spaceyness, it just in general doesn't sound that great. So what I'm getting at is: will acoustic treatment make it sound like the quality I am looking for? All the acoustic treatment demos I have seen pertain mostly to drums or people mixing and listening through a monitor. So if I spend some money and properly set up some bass traps and paneling, will it improve my sound? If not, what am I doing wrong?
Is acoustic treatment what I'm looking for?
