I checked all the old tascam forums for a precise answer just maybe someone knows the answer here on GS.
The tascam 788 was an 8 track multi track digital recorder. It had a SCSI connection for a very specific CD burner that's no longer in production. Only the 788 burner could /can transfer data and burn cd's. Some people say the spdif can play two tracks out at a time and be recorded on another spdif in device.
I am trying to bounce 6 tracks and get the tascams mix ( called pre-master) out through a spdif out on the back of the 788 recorder. Does anyone know if I can only go spdif in real-time OR can I bounce my pre-master and send that spdif ( 2 track pre-master) out to a device that has spdif in? Reason I'm asking is I need to find a spdif recorder first...hope this makes sense. And yes I know this gear is quite outdated...boy do I ... I'm hoping to mix in the box and just send that 2 track master or (pre-master called in the manual) to a spdif in...
