Anyone else not into what is going down lately beyond just the crap mixes and limited masters?
what is it with every guy that has a laptop becoming quite popular?
I seen these dudes local that have a decent following and beside me feeling their music is really bad I figured id support my buddies show... They played a mix cd the whole time, were paid 1,500 for 1 hour set... cakedup is their name and im not trying to promote them.. I am calling them out~!
its not just them.. it popping up all over... While it doesnt have a direct affect on my life it does seem to affect folks I cater to.
A good mix is no longer acceptable... A good sound is not what anyone seems to want... I am baffled at how much worse it is getting...
I think I may have to step back from music and the scene or so what it was.. I am so far unable to wrap my head around this...
Ive made my pennies and have no quarrels there. I do hate the fact music I loved and good music indeed is no longer saught after... In fact, the only ones i know looking for good music are over 30...
Are any of you seeing or being affected by this? mainly, your local club nights gone to complete shit? your fav producers not caring as much? has the total lack of tonality and over compression made you kinda fade to back?
I have seriously and i mean seriously slowed down on my output... I still make the same amount, but id say maybe two gets loaded... Not because I want to hold back, but I do not feel the need. I used to feel like sharing what I felt was a good tune was worthwhile... Now, I do no feel it... even my old label just ask me to master a bit louder to compete.. I cannot convince them otherwise... Not that the label matters as I have my own
My main bother is the response from labels... they are literally saying our brand and sound isnt our goal... top 10 is. wtf!
