So , I admit that I have heard this greek fellow Vangelis once or twice and it seems to be that my synth God helps me finding Vangelish equipment...
I was about to buy a Korg MS-20 from a guy not many miles away from my place and it was really exciting to find another "synth" guy in my neighbourhood. I happen to live in the north of Sweden where there is not many people at all...so to speakkfhkh
However he was more into Symphonic Rock , E.L.P and that kind of difficult things and I am more into electronic stuff where 4 on the floor is king and the chords are maximum 3 different notes... not 7 or 8 different keys at the same time...gooof
However , just as I was about to leave with the MS-20 he told me he owned a Yamaha CP-80 and was finally tired of bringing the bastard on tour and rehearsals. 40 years is enough , I will now use my Motif he said. Sounds even better plus it is not as heavy and I am tired of tuning the grand all the time too.
Sure , I said how much is it ? I actually have an empty space in my studio for it.
Unfortunately I can not tell you Gearslutzes how much but it was a fair price I can tell you ;)
However the MS-20 turned up not very healty so when returning that one I picked up the CP-80 a couple of days later.
The difference between this story and the Memorymoog story I told you last time is, that this one is true.
I was about to doing a multitrack video of the CP-80 but it finally ended up in a Epic track with different vintage synths and also Choir Libraries to get that huge Vangelish feeling :D
The choir singing in "pseudo Latin" is created using EastWest Symphonic Choir Library with the wordbuilder plugin where you type any lyrics you want and then the choir will sing them for you !
