3D miking possibility for acoustic guitar

I don't intentionally mean to start a thread on ASMR videos, but they are integral to the thread, nonetheless.

My son & I were discussing the recent proliferation of Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response videos on YouTube. I was unaware of the videos until he informed me of them. After he described the effects of the videos to me, I replied that I was familiar with the effect of these particular stimuli, but wasn't aware of the trend.

He pointed me in the general direction in order that I might further my 'studies'.

These videos were enlightening in three distinct senses: 1) that these sites were getting hits that most any one of us would be proud to get on YouTube, 2) that people recognised the 'demand' for such videos, and 3) how freaking good the microphones in use seemed to sound.

For those who may not know about AMSR videos, don your headphones and check this out, for starters: http://ift.tt/1BytR6n

I was thoroughly impressed with the sensitivity of the microphone and the 3D effect it exhibited. It took a while, but finally, after scanning several of the videos, I saw the logo on the back: 3Dio. What astounded me most, however, was the appearance of the device:

I wondered how utterly cool one of these units might perform in my studio miking my acoustic guitar. No more clumsy X/Y configurations, no phase cancellation..and the intimacy would be absolutely killer.

So I post the image on my FB page...and none of my studio colleagues were aware of the existence of this microphone! How is it that AMSR artists know about this mic, yet I, nor any of my studio rats, have ever heard of it?

Have any of you Slutz ever had any experiences with this device?

I did finally get in contact with the developer, and told him what application I had in mind, and am awaiting his reply, but I'd like to know what other like-minded fools think.
