x86 or program files

I recently upgraded from a 32 bit to 64 bit ableton suite 9 for windows 7. I purchased jbridge to bridge my 32 bit vsts. I know most vsts, automatically load into programfiles/x86/steinberg but is there a difference on where I should load these files, i just made a dedicated vst folder underneath program files. Are 32 bit supposed to be under x86 and 64 bit under regular program files, Ableton requires a dedicated folder for vsts and I've had a lot of trouble getting all my vsts to work simultaneously even if they're located in the right place. Add in jbridge files that are application extensions and my computer has become a mess, thinking of deleting jbridge files and reinstalling apps that arent working. Total noob if you cant tell but is there a way of seeing which are 32 bit vsts like I know sylenth is? Is it okay to have 64 bit vsts under progam files x86? Does it make a difference? Lots of questions but any answers are appreciated?
