Hey guys,
I play in a touring alternative rock band and my Vox AC30CC2 bit the dust right before our last show of tour. I have had endless problems with this thing ever since I got it and despite the fact that I love the tone, it's just not a reliable piece of equipment.
With that being said, I would like to replace it. The other guitarist in my band also uses an AC30CC2; I would really like to find a different amp to help me cut through the mix since I play all the leads. Some of the amps that I have been looking at are;
- Fender Supersonic
- Fender Twin Reverb
- Marshall DSL40C
- Egnater Renegade 212
- Bogner Alchemist (seemed like a great candidate until I found out that it's Bogner in name only)
- Mesa 5:50
We mostly use dirty tones (I used to blend the top boost channel with a fulltone OCD pedal for my drive setting) but a nice clean sound is preferred. One big issue I had with the AC30 is that is was not quite loud enough. Our drummer hits harder than the Hulk so getting over his drums is quite difficult.
I'm really leaning towards the Egnater right now because of its versatility (although I know they have had a lot of quality control issues in the past), but I am welcoming any additional ideas that I didn't include! Would really like to keep it around the same price as the AC30 that way I can offer an even trade or trade + cash.
Thanks!
