Cool sequenced bass - how do they do it?

I'm not interested in how to get the actual bass sound - I'm interested in what they would use to get this kind of sequenced/split/sliced up bass performance. Is there an ARP that does this - or is it painfully programmed into the DAW?



I know they use Cubase and Yamaha MOTIF synth - and they do a lot of DAW editing (they recently did a tour of their LA studio, and other recent videos showing their workflow).
