If you have bright/sharp/thin/harsh sounding overheads tracks and can't afford a better pair of OH mics, etc. Take a pitch shifting plugin (I like Waves' Soundshifter) and drop pitch. Try a few cents first, if that doesn't do it try 1 Semitone. You can go even further to get some weird sounds (Think No Quarter by Zeppelin).
