Mir has competed every year since his 2006 return and could probably use a break.

Talk about a rough couple of years.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Frank Mir has dropped four consecutive mixed martial arts (MMA) fights, including a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Alistair Overeem at the UFC 169 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this year in New Jersey.

"The Reem" out-struck Mir 139-5.

Following his defeat in "Dirty Jersey," UFC President Dana White refused to comment on Mir's future. Today, the veteran's longtime manager, Malki Kawa, informed FOX Sports that his client is still employed by UFC, but taking some time off to plan his next move.

His words.

"He's just taking time off. He's taking a little bit of time and we'll figure out what his next fight is going to be, and what he's going to do next. Right now we haven't come to a conclusion on that time frame yet. We'll know something very soon, but there's nothing really happening quite yet. But yeah, he's still on the roster."

But there's more to the story.

Mir recently began testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and was able to obtain an exemption for his Overeem fight in "The Garden State." But since he's been absent, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) banned the controversial treatment and other regulatory bodies have started to follow suit.

Mir turns 35 in May.

When and where the No. 10-ranked heavyweight gets back into the Octagon remains to be seen, but he undoubtedly has an uphill battle ahead of him. Any fight fans out there have a potential opponent in mind for his eventual return?
