The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil 3" is already beginning to take shape with the addition of two familiar 170-pound faces.
Two Welterweight mixed martial arts (MMA) veterans eager to return to the win column, Demian Maia and Mike Pierce, are on a collision course for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): "Brazil 3," which is set for Ibirapuera Arena in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on May 31, 2014.
The news comes from "UFC Tonight," which aired earlier this evening on FOX Sports 1.
Maia is in the midst of back-to-back losses for the first time in his MMA career, dropping a split decision to Jake Shields at UFC Fight Night 29 back in Oct. 2013 and, most recently, getting beat to the punch by Rory MacDonald to lose unanimously on the judges scorecards at UFC 170 just last month.
Nonetheless, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu stylist is holding steady in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rankings at No. 8.
Pierce, meanwhile, was the victim of a savage Rousimar Palhares heel hook attack at UFC Fight Night 29, tapping just 30 seconds into their match, only for the Brazilian to keep the hold locked in for several more painful (and unsportsmanlike) seconds.
Prior to the "Toquinho" torture, Pierce had amassed four straight wins inside the Octagon over the likes of David Mitchell, Seth Baczynski, Aaron Simpson and Carlos Eduardo Rocha.
Besides the main event between TUF: "Brazil 3" coaches, Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva, no other bouts have been announced for the Finale; however, those spots are sure to fill up sooner rather than later.
