Is it just me or listening to MMA play by play is listening to your buddies in your living room. I'm especially talking about guys like Mike Goldberg. He doesn't call play by play. If you list to play by play guys for every other sport, they are giving listeners a visual:
Hockey: Ovechkin gets the puck behind the net, passes to Green, Green to the blue line, spin o ramma, dishes back to Holstrom, Holstrom from the front of the net shoots, Ryan with the pad save, Ovechkin gets the rebound.....HE SCOOOOOOOOORES!!!
Football: Brady takes the snap, Here comes the blitz, good pick up by Maroney, Brady throws downfield.......Walker makes the catch at the 30, and gets pummeled. Wow what a hit by Sherman. RIchard sherman makes sure Walker knows that he's in Sherman's neighborhood. What a throw and catch but even a better hit by Sherman.
Baseball: Garza from the stretch....with a 3-1 count to Puig, he delivers, and a shot to deep center, Weaver goes back to the fence, back, reaches up, he can't get it. It's gone. Home run Puig. 4-3 Dodgers. Wow.
UFC: HEEEEEEERE WE GO. Shogun press with a leg kick, Hendo getting tired...OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH Shogun goes down. OMG. What just happened. OMG. I can't believe what just happened. WOW. Hendo with the punch....OOOOOOHHHHH MYYYYY GOODNESS. WOW. WOW is right. What a punch.
