How would you sort out welterweight division? (GIF's)

After the last Ultimate fight night Matt Brown has made himself to a contender status even for the skeptics, while his faithful followers are claiming him as the #1 contender and demand for title shot after an impressive beatdown of Erick Silva.

Brown has a long streak now and a fight of the year contender in our fresh memories, with him being on the better side of the outcome.

But is it enough to warrant a title shot?

It's the short memory of an MMA fan and the hyperboles of MMA media and UFC's marketing that makes everything the best ever and the best ever last month is already forgotten.

Welterweight is one of the deepset divisions now in the UFC. Or dare I say The deepest division ever in the history of the ufc! Okay, LW is competing with that, but that's not the point. The point is that some time ago Tyron Woodley impressed us just as much against a guy that some of us already thought was going to fight for the title next. (Condit, not Josh lol) So rewind back a bit and remember how you felt after those events. Brown has the hype advantage now, but there are other impressive fighters ahead of him.

Then we have Hector Lombard who's coming from a win against highly ranked Jake Shields. Shields was coming out with a win over Demian Maia. Lomard rag dolled him for 3 rounds and looked good against a guy that no one looks good against (except Ellenberger).

Then we have Rory Macdonald who has a win over Maia. Maia was coming off a loss from Shields, but was still very dangerous top 10 guy. Rory beat him after surviving the 1st round of Maia's grappling.

That's not all. We still have Robbie Lawler who lost a title fight, but in a very close 5 round battle. So he is right in a mix up.

And last and maybe least too but we do have the wild card of Nick Diaz if enough money gets thrown at him.

So should Brown just jump ahead of all these guys? Not imo

Who should fight who and what fight is the next #1 contender fight?

Tyron Woodley vs Rory might be set for 174. Im not sure, since ufc tends to change fights and make decisions out what their mood is, but that sounds like a good n1 fight for me.
