"Super Samoan" vs. "Big Country?" That's a hard-hitting heavyweight match up if I ever saw one.
"The Land of the Rising Sun" is in the running to play host to a potential slobberknocker of a heavyweight fight, as Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson could be heading to Japan this September.
That's according to a report by UFC Tonight, which also indicates the healing of Nelson's hand -- injured on the dome of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira last month in Abu Dhabi -- could be the deciding factor.
Two big men with crazy knockout power trying to knock each other's blocks off?
Yes please!
Hunt (9-8-1) recently fought to a draw against Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva last December in an action-packed, five-round affair at UFC Fight Night 33 (video). Prior to that, the "Super Samoan" had his four-fight win streak snapped by Junior dos Santos at UFC 160.
In addition, he's had his own share of hand issues.
Nelson (20-9), meanwhile, recently ended his two-fight skid at UFC Fight Night 39 by knocking out "Minotauro" (relive it again here). Unfortunately, "Big Country" suffered a broken hand during the fight that required surgery, which is why the potential scrap against Hunt is in limbo.
Indeed, this heavyweight match up has long been on fight fans' wish list, and if everything works out as planned, it could become reality this fall.
Fingers crossed.
