Jordan Mein says his father's situation didn't distract him from win over Mike Pyle

Jordan Mein, understandably, didn't want to talk much about the turmoil that went down in his family in the hours leading up to UFC Fight Night 49.

The welterweight contender from Canada saw his father and cornerman, James Lee Mein, arrested and charged with sexual battery before Friday's weigh-ins in Tulsa. He was released on bond on Saturday morning.

Jordan Mein was asked at the post-fight press conference if the distractions affected his preparation for his co-main event bout with Mike Pyle.

"No, not at all," Mein said Saturday night.

If he was in any way affected, he certainly didn't show it in the Octagon. the 24-year-old from Alberta made short work of Pyle, scoring a swift first-round knockout and earning a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.

It was Mein's second straight win and his fifth in his past six fights. His only loss in the stretch is to Matt Brown.

Mein says that he looks forward to continuing to work his way up the welterweight ladder.

"I want these co-main event spots, these main event spots," Mein said. "It's where I belong and I hope the UFC keeps giving me these opportunities. Because that's where I belong. I proved it today and I'll prove it again."
