TULSA – Rafael dos Anjos, Jordan Mein, Thales Leites and Ben Saunders each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 49 event.
As with UFC Fight Night 48 earlier today, all of the fighters earned “Performance of the Night” bonuses since no “Fight of the Night” awards were handed out.
UFC officials announced the winners via the event’s post-fight show on FOX Sports 1.
UFC Fight Night 49 took place at BOK Center in Tulsa. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 2 and UFC Fight Pass
Dos Anjos (22-7 MMA, 11-5 UFC) upset ex-lightweight champion Benson Henderson (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) via first-round TKO in the night’s headliner, and Mein (29-9 MMA, 3-1 UFC) needed just 72 seconds to steamroll welterweight Mike Pyle (26-10-1 MMA, 9-5 UFC) in the co-headliner.
Leites (24-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC), meanwhile, scored an upset knockout of middleweight Francis Carmont (22-10 MMA, 6-3 UFC) in main-card action, and in his return to the UFC, Saunders scored the first omoplata victory in UFC history during his submission of Chris Heatherly (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the night’s prelims.
