The UFC’s November show in Brazil has its first fight with a pair of light heavyweights looking to rebound from losses to Ryan Bader.
Ovince Saint Preux (16-6 MMA, 4-1 UFC) will meet Brazil’s Rafael Cavalcante (12-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 56.
UFC officials recently announced the fight, which will take place Nov. 8 at what is expected to be Ginasio Municipal Tancredo Neves in Uberlandia, Brazil.
Saint Preux had a five-fight winning streak snapped against Bader earlier this month at UFC Fight Night 47 in Bangor, Maine. In the main event, the two went the distance, but Bader landed a career-best nine takedowns to cruise to a unanimous decision. Before that, Saint Preux, a former University of Tennessee football standout, had been unbeaten in the UFC.
Cavalcante will try to get back on track in his home country after a June decision loss to Bader at UFC 174 in Vancouver. Before that, in November, he picked up his first official win since September 2011 when he stopped Igor Pokrajac with a TKO just 78 seconds into the fight. A previous win for Strikeforce in May 2012 was wiped out when he tested positive for steroids following a fight with Mike Kyle. That win was flipped to a no-contest.
