Where to place mixing workstation?

I'm moving into a new apartment, and I'm looking for some general advice on where I should place my desk for a mixing/critical listening environment. The ceilings are high (11'6"), and the room I'm looking to use is the living room. Here's where it gets a little confusing for me:

I am planning to use a large screen (47") as the computer monitor and the TV for when company comes over. As you can see in the diagram, the window is at the top of the picture, and it is basically floor-to-ceiling. If I face that wall when mixing, the wall behind me is way back in the kitchen, where the front door is. So I'm not sure if that's too far back to cause any reflection issues.

I'm using Fostex 8.4.1 (3-way monitors with 8" woofer).

I'm a little afraid of placing a cloud up there 'cause at that height, if it falls on my head I will die (or worse, it'll damage my equipment!)

So anyway, is the only real logical place for this over in front of that window? I'm going to build some acoustic panels for the reflections, and hopefully will have enough duckets to afford some bass traps.

Bonus question: would diffusion be of use in a space this size? Ok thanks y'all
