i am trying to put together an expandable portable recording system. it doesn't need to be fancy its just for tracking. i would like the option to use up to 48 inputs. 32 seems easy enough but getting the 48 seems t0 complicate it. an x32 will get me 32 fairly cheap BUT its not upgradable or particularly portable.
i am currently using a new MBP. i was going to use 2 M-audio light-bridge's with ADAT interfaces with (PT aggregate) but because the M-audio is not in production i think ill be in trouble if i need to move up to yosomite in the future.
another option is a digi 192 i/o (extra expansion cards) connected through thundebolt (TB - PCIe chassis). and connect my pre's via ADAT.
or use a RME raydat card with (TB - PCIe chassis) and ADAT into that.
anbody have experiance of any of these methods or have any better idea's or know of any good HD recorders i could use instead.
