Hi everyone,
I'm an experienced guitarist who recently (after witnessing a fully live produced techno set) decided to start messing with some electronic music production. I'm trying to build a proper setup for this, and most importantly, I want to be able to expand on prebuild tracks live with my synth (a korg koassilator). There is just so much equipment available and I'm pretty lost. I don't need an elaborate setup right now, but basically what I want to do is to build an entire track with only a synthesizer. Since the Koassilator has unlimited overdubs and I've got quite a good feel for rhythm and 'musicality', but the problem is that the maximum time is 8 beats. What kind of equipment would I need to keep that section playing and be able to start recording a new section with the synth. Right now I'm thinking I need some kind of looper and a mixer, so I can keep playing what I've created (using the external looper) while resetting the Koassilator and using it to build a follow-up sequence, which I can then mix in with the mixer. Is this in any way a correct assumption? What kind of problems would I get? There's just so much equipment available and so many options for both analog and digital production and I don't know if I want to use ableton and some controller or build this setup without the use of a laptop.
Thanks so much for any help
