is there a simple way to record a synth instrument in a DAW where the sound increases in volume up to the beat, and ends right on the beat? I'm aware of using ADSR on virtual and analogue instruments and timing the playing of notes to have them end on the beat, but Im guessing there's a simpler way of getting the sound to build and end right on the beat. Compression with side chaining is another way I've done it, but it isn't exactly the sound I'm after. To do that it's almost like you'd have to record tracks midi info on one pass, and then have the DAW look ahead in realtime on playback to anticipate the upcoming midi note and play it early. I realize that to those of you who understand what I'm asking and know how to do this, it probably sounds like a stupidly easy question.
And BTW I'm new to this site, and though I've used DAWs for over 15 years now, I'm a little embarrassed that I'm having to ask this question. I'm used to learning as I go and searching online, but for this question I don't even know how to phrase the question in a search (and I realize the question has probably been asked on this forum, so I apologize in advance, but I have spent time searching!)
