Hello, I see that people always talk about gain staging, something I even try to follow, but I have noticed that CLA does not usually keep things as "controlled".
From what I understand he usually has peaks around -6dBFS or -3dBFS and not -8dBFS/-10dBFS as recommended. Maybe he sends a higher signal to distort his desk and has calibrated with an average level of -15dBFS rather than -18dBFS?
I'm not talking about gain staging during recording, which I follow to the letter, but during the mix.
