I have recently purchased a cheap DX7 in the hopes that I could fix it up.
The internal battery has died, and I will need to replace that, along with a few buttons and some missing keys. However, the internal keyboard exhibits some strange behaviour. Most of the keys to on the keyboard do not work at all, or play the wrong note. Some of the keys in the first octave work, but then only stop playing when the key is pressed again, but play again as soon as the key is released. I have tried cleaning all the contacts, and tried replacing the ribbon cable. The DX7 behaves the same when sending the MIDI signal. It functions correctly when receiving a MIDI signal.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it, and how I could fix it?
