Looking to sync 2 laptops running Ableton for redundancy as ya do. I bought a MOTU MIDI Express XT which worked but took just over 3 seconds to latch to the incoming timecode.
After contacting MOTU's tech support they tested some of their own XT's, informed me that this was normal for the unit and that the sync speed is likely down to a manufacturing fault in the hardware. Incredible. :facepalm:
They did mention that their Micro Express does work as advertised but I'd rather avoid them if possible.
Was considering a mif4, bulletproof but quite pricy.
Any other suggestions for a piece of hardware that works properly and syncs fast?
(I realise I could preroll everything but again I'd rather not have to!)
