I am currently going from a Trident 4T channel strip > Firepod > DAW > Lavry DA11. I would like to get a Mytek 8X96 to upgrade my A/D conversion, but I would like to know what I need if I remove the Firepod from my recording chain? Can I go straight from Trident > Mytek ADC > DAW > Lavry DA11? Does using S/PDIF in and out in the firepod do anything to the chain (negatively)? Hoping to add some additional high-end pres soon, but just worried the Firepod is negatively impacting my recording chain, even if I am not using its pres or converters (possible clock issue?). Let me know what you think.
