Some of you may be familiar with Eddie Van Halen's famously disastrous rendition of Jump at a 2007 Greensboro show. His guitar was completely out of tune with the pre-recorded synth part. Nevertheless he played on through the whole song, making for quite a clashing microtonal meltdown.

There was a lot of web speculation back then about what went wrong, but was there ever any conclusion as to whether the problem was Eddie's guitar or the synth part? Some thought the synth part was played back at 48k rather than 44.1k. Was the band ever interviewed about it, or ever comment on it?
