Glory seems to have the winning format

Surprised not to see some kind of Glory live chat or something here. There was an awesome night of fights last night and I noticed something somewhat odd, yet amazingly successful for Glory's format that seems better in every conceivable way for entertainment and a proper contender format.

For every title shot, you have to win a 4 man tournament that takes place over one night. Two 3x3 minute fights. They both have their first round of fights, then they take a one fight break during a title fight from a different weight class, who fight a 5x3 minute fight, then finish their tournament after that for the next contender bout. There is a MASSIVE motivation to finish your first fight as quick as possible, because you'll be fresher for your next fight, and there is a little chance to catch your breath, but also for your wounds to set in so this almost always leads to balls out first fights, and they tend to go balls out for their second as well because they're either worn out from their first and are getting a little desperate, or they're fresh and want to make quick work of the guy.

I was just stopping to think of what an amazing system this is across the board, and it would be possible in MMA too. I remember when coker was trying to do the grand prix with strikeforce, and the limiting factor was that fighters weren't allowed to fight more than 25 minutes in a night. They could do two fights, but the rounds would need to be trimmed. Imagine:

say a 4 man tournament for the lightweight contender slot. 3 x 3 (or even 4) minute rounds. Gil vs Benson, Thomson vs Grant, back to back fights. Next fight is a title bout from another weight class who also chose their contender based on this format. 5x5 minute fight. Winner of both those lightweight fights get together for another 3x3 (or 4) minute rounds for the #1 contender fight. Lets just assume one guy tried to grind out a win, and the other finished his fight early. Well it might be a lopsided fight now. Fighters would fight for 18 or 24 minutes in a night.

Next card, the champ bout would be Pettis vs contender in 5x5, with say, the WW contender fight. I think at the very least it would make me interested in the UFC again
