Is it Time for Another Change With UFC Commentary?

I've noticed there is a lot of criticism towards the broadcasting style of UFC commentary duo Goldberg and Rogan. The criticisms are many; they are too sensationalist in the delivery, the yelling, the overuse of words like "Elite fighter", "HERE WE GO", Joe Rogan's overt and bias praise of certain fighters abilities thus influencing the way people view the fights, etc.

At UFC Fight Night 37 in London, England, John Gooden and Dan Hardy made their debut as play-by-play and colour commentary for the UFC. I thought it was a refreshingly calm and insightful performance by both, and made me believe that the UFC needs to fire Goldberg.

A lot of people don't like Rogan's colour commentary, but personally, I think he does a great job. Of course he is not without his flaws (such as the overt and bias praise of certain fighter's abilities) but overall I appreciate his knowledge of BJJ, his growing knowledge of other martial art techniques, and his knowledge of the fighters. In a sport where many people initially get into watching it to satisfy some primordial blood lust, Rogan has proven the ability to expand viewers knowledge of certain techniques, and help (some) viewers on the path of beginning to understand what they are watching. Dan Hardy also did an excellent job in this area as both guys have proven to be well spoken broadcasters on air.

On the other hand, Goldberg has run his course. The guy's yelling, delivery, and just all around play-by-play has not evolved with the sport. Everything he says appears to be a page out of fightmetrics or Wikipedia. When he does attempt to make an insightful comment on technique, he does so without conviction, almost posting it as a question to be confirmed by Rogan. IMO, his style is a better fit for WWE and as the sport has matured, its time for Goldberg to be replaced.

What are your opinions on the UFC Commentary Team?
