This is in reference to an old article, describing an analysis of Jones' HS performance in a tourney stacked up next to olympic gold medalist Jake Varner

The above doesn't totally prove or disprove anything, but is definitely some food for thought.
Add the above bit of knowledge to your noggin while calculating these facts:
+Jones also has a MUCH better reach advantage, along with devastating eye pokes.
+is much taller and bigger in general.
+specializes in fighting from distance.
+is a more diverse striker.
I don't think the huge "he's an Olympian, look what he did to Hendo" shit will matter as much as we'd like to WANT it to matter. I'd like to see DC push and whoop him. Would be good for Jones.
But I see this fight going like Rousey vs McMann. Olympic wrestling medalist, such a threat, oh no, and BOOM she gets beat. Except Jones is a really good wrestler anyways, so it won't be as impressive as Rhonda's magical takedown reversals were.

Recently, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones tweeted that he is a "black belt in wrestling". This is interesting, not only because wrestling lacks a belt system, but also because it forces us to wonder as to exactly how good Jones' wrestling background really is.
We know that Jones was a national junior college champion, and was allotted scholarship money by wrestling powerhouse Iowa State University. These facts speak volumes about his abilities, but I believe that far more exact knowledge can be gained about Jones' wrestling pedigree by examining the results from his run in the NHSCA Senior Nationals, while he was still in high school in 2005.
