Mein became available when Brandon Thatch mangled his toe.
Longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Demian Maia has been injured and former to withdraw from the UFC Fight Night 49 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which takes place on Aug. 23, 2014 inside BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
UFC brought word of the change on Wednesday.
Fortunately for his opponent, Mike Pyle, fellow welterweight Jordan Mein was also left stranded after Brandon Thatch broke his toe (pic) and bailed on the FOX Sports 1 extravaganza, so it was a simple matter to pair these two off for main card fisticuffs.
Mein (28-9) grabbed a win last April by outpointing Hermani Perpetuo at UFC on FOX 11, while Pyle (26-9-1) recently hammered TJ Waldburger at UFC 170.
Fun fight.
