Following her UFC 175 technical knockout win over Alexis Davis, women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey revealed that she needed knee surgery. Five weeks after going under the knife, Rousey says her knee is better than it’s been in years.
“It’s great. This is actually my fourth knee surgery, and this is my third scope. I’ve had it much worse before. I mean, I would still fight today. If they said, ‘hey, we need a fight,' I would do it today,” said the bantamweight champion on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight.
“It’s going to be pretty scary when I come back 100-percent because I’ve been operating on one leg pretty much for a couple of years now. And now I’ve gotten to the point that my range of motion and everything is better than it’s been since I was 16 years old,” added the women’s bantamweight champion.
Rousey is eying an end-of-the-year return to the Octagon and would like to be on the same card as Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier.
“I would love to be on the New Year’s card again,” she said. “With everything that happened with Jon Jones – I heard today – I would love to be on the card with Jon Jones and Cormier. Whenever they’re ready to fight, I’d love to share a card with them. I think that would be a very special night.”
Jones and Cormier were originally scheduled to face off at UFC 178 on Sept. 27, but the bout was pushed back to UFC 182 on Jan. 3 after Jones suffered a knee injury in training.
