UFC 177 Update: Odoms-Magomedov Scratched, Medeiros-Edwards Moved to Main Card
A heavyweight bout between Richard Odoms and Ruslan Magomedov set for the main card of UFC 177 is no longer.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials Monday announced that Odoms “has been forced to withdraw” from the bout, though the reason for his withdrawal was not specified. As a result, Magomedov has been removed from the card altogether and will be matched against another opponent at an upcoming card to be determined.
UFC 177 takes place Aug. 30 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif., headlined by a bantamweight title rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao. A lightweight tilt between Yancy Medeiros and Justin Edwards will replace the Odoms-Magomedov bout on the pay-per-view main card.
The event was scheduled to feature Demetrious Johnson defending his flyweight title against Chris Cariaso in the co-main event, but that fight was moved to the main event of UFC 178.
