Next month’s UFC return to Connecticut has its lineup set with 11 fights, including 10 televised bouts on FOX Sports 1.
UFC Fight Night 50 takes place Sept. 5, a rare Friday show, at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Conn. Six fights on the main card will air on FOX Sports 1 following four prelims on the channel. A lone prelim opens the event on UFC Fight Pass.
Tickets for the UFC’s first Connecticut show in nine years are available at Ticketmaster.com and start at $100, plus fees, and go up to $350 plus fees for a cageside seat.
The show will be headlined by a five-round middleweight matchup between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (20-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Gegard Mouasi (35-4-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC). That matchup is a key contest at 185 pounds, as Souza is currently ranked No. 4 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA middleweight rankings, while Mousasi is No. 9. Souza also holds an Honorable Mention spot on the pound-for-pound list.
The main card also features a pair of heavyweight collisions as former Strikeforce champ Alistair Overeem (37-13 MMA, 2-2 UFC) takes on Ben Rothwell (33-9 MMA, 3-3 UFC) and “TUF 10″ veteran Matt Mitrione (7-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) meets Derrick Lewis (11-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC), who called Mitrione out after his UFC 175 victory a month ago.
