ATC SCM25A - revealing, or just wrong?

I upgraded from ProAc Studio 100s to ATC 25As about 9 months ago. I added a Focal CMS Sub to the setup after a couple of months as I found the ATCs a bit light in the bass. I do not have a perfect room, but the basics are in place (cloud, first reflection panels, and I also have a lot of trapping in the corners).

I have found the mid range on the ATCs extraordinarily clear and detailed. It was quite a revelation initially. I very much enjoy working on my mixes with the ATCs but I have a worry... The worry is that some commercial tracks sound great - lots of modern productions particularly, some examples would be Daft Punk - Get Lucky, Pharrel's Marilyn Monroe, London Grammar's 'Hey Now', the new Coldplay. Basically modern often electronic production that uses the full spectrum (or perhaps hypes the bass end?) sounds 'correct'. But on the other hand most rock music does not fare so well. Even modern productions like QUOTSA have such a detailed mid range but seem to lack weight or thump.

Various older productions such as (to pick a few at random) Led Zep, early Depeche Mode, Madonna, even Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, do not really have a sound that I would like to sit down and enjoy with a beer. Often older tracks sound unbelievably thin and light. In other words, I can't listen to 75% of my record collection without thinking 'this production sounds wrong'

I do work professionally with my music (generally for TV) but I don't get to go to different studios, so my experience of other monitoring setups is limited. Does the description of my ATCs sound typical?

I'm thinking of demoing some other speakers. But it might be my room I guess.

What would you do?

Opinions welcome!
