Transformer Mod For MXL 2001

Just bought one of these off of eBay for next to nothing, and I'd like to mod it. I've read about the tube mods, but my solder skills are relatively low, and so is my budget, but I can certainly solder in a new transformer!



Will swapping out the transformer make a difference that's worth the cost/time, and which transformers should I look at?
