Strange experience:
Just bought a Benchmark MPA1 through Ebay UK. Looks almost new, but I could hear slight chatter on both channels. After 15 minutes of test recordings suddenly the volume control on one channel froze and I couldn't change the amplification anymore, also not after turning the power off. No, the knob is not loose - if that was your first thought...
Does anybody have a similar experience with Benchmark. I had very high expectation as to the build quality and reliability. I applied for resending the item and I'm curious how this will develop. Hope the commercial seller will take it back and refund properly.
It's such a pity because it's a great preamp sound-wise (or absence-of-sound-wise).
BTW Does the 420 also have these rotary volume controls?
