Woops!

I'm new to the Pro Tools realm. I've been using other software for music and I thought that getting around Pro Tools seems like a good thing to learn. I was looking at HD core systems online and decided that it was too much of a burden on my wallet. So, I ended up getting some used HD native stuff for much cheaper online and ended up getting the regular pro tools seperately, come to find that I need an HD license just to recognize the hardware. Whoops!

Anyway, I've been using the hardware with other DAW's and it works just fine, but it doesn't exactly fix my problem (I've just been ignoring it). I ended up contacting customer support and they pretty much told me that I have to buy a second HD native core system which would not only be insurmountably more expensive, but it would end up in a second HD native card and a second omni, which is just redundant. I realize that I pretty much screwed myself over, so I'm left with few options.

a) Keep ignoring the problem and use another daw

b) Find an unregistered license for PTHD on ebay

c) Upgrade from complete production toolkit.

Option A doesn't really fix anything and option C seems more attractive than option B, considering that a used cptk license + an upgrade yields in a less expensive fix. So, it SEEMS like my best bet is to go with option C, cptk with an upgrade to 11HD.

I've searched this forum as well as Avid's forum and I'm still not 100% certain as to whether or not this would actually work. Instead of necrobumping a thread, I've decided to just write this one. I've read through posts about some people looking to do similar things, but I want a definite answer. I would like to hear, specifically, is there a catch? I want to know for sure whether or not cptk ilok can indeed be transferred and upgraded to pt11HD, complete with all HD'ness as well as being able to recognize the used HD hardware.

Was anyone actually, and I mean legitimately, successful in upgrading to pt11HD from a used cptk? Can you add a native card to the system even?

Thanks.
